Marcie Rendon (Ojibwe), Rhiana Yazzie (Navajo), Clara NiiSka (Ojibwe) and Sara Parker (Mandan-Hidatsa/ Cree), have been named as winners in the 2008 Native Radio Theater scriptwriting contest. Read more.

Longtime AIROS Listener Wins Web Survey Grand Prize

A longtime AIROS listener from southwest Texas has won NAPT's grand prize after taking the recent AIROS survey. David Cantu will receive a $50 Wal-Mart gift card, a NAPT T-shirt and five CDs from the AIROS audio vault. Cantu, who has been tuning in since 1999 to hear such shows as Native Sounds-Native Voices, said he was surprised because this is the first time he has won anything by responding to a survey. The award-winning Native American music radio show, Native Sounds-Native Voices, now has a new schedule on the AIROS radio network. | Deadline Extended For High School Graduates Internship Program
|
The deadline for a multi-year internship project designed to teach high school graduates skills in public television production and promotion has been extended to March 28. Students accepted in the paid, five-year CPB/Emma Bowen Foundation program for Minority Interests in Media will work summers and during other school breaks. Eligible students include those of African-American, Hispanic, Asian or Native American descent who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 or higher, are college-bound and are interested in pursuing a career in the media industry. South Carolina ETV has been awarded a contract by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting to provide a limited number of travel grants to the 2008 Input international public television screening conference May 4-10 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Deadline is March 21.
